Small Balcony, Big Ideas!
Do you have a balcony/patio and wish you can actually take advantage of utilizing it? Well today’s blog is about small balconies with big ideas! I’m currently working on a small balcony that has the view of the Downtown Los Angeles skyline. The inspiration for this design came from a rustic resort in Palm Springs that my client used to have a photoshoot for her Shoe Boutique. She fell in love with the cacti, succulents, and natural finish furnishings. I’m using the things she fell in love with and created a full design concept for the small balcony in her apartment. Her desire is to have an oasis of her own to wind down and take naps, even while living in the heart of Los Angeles. Despite the balcony’s small space, she certainly adores it and wanted to make good use of the space. Having a balcony gives you the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors while living in the city, and allowing you to relax under the sun without even leaving your apartment.
Choosing the furniture for a small balcony can be challenging but I was able to find the perfect outdoor sofa, braided pouf, and outdoor area rug to make the space look and feel welcoming. Once the furniture and floor covering was chosen, then came the most interesting part; plants of course! By adding plants and/or flowers you will feel how lively and refreshing your balcony because they also bring a cheerful ambience. I chose planters in different sizes to be placed on the floor along with votives with coper string lights in them for a romantic vibe. Adding accessories is a small key that completes the decorative look. In a small balcony, the most important accessory will be the plants themselves, and any lighting; like the ones I chose for this client.
The below images gives you a sneak peak of what the bare balcony looks like before Studio 9 took over. Stay tuned for a future blog post talking about the installation along with pictures of the final design!
